Competitive PROGRAM FAQS
Player ID represents Salvo’s version of “tryouts.” Players are assessed on their soccer skills and fitness by Salvo coaches and evaluators to determine the team that would suit them best. Salvo does not make cuts! All players will be assigned to a team as long as there are enough players to make a team at the appropriate age and skill level. Visit our Player ID page for more information.
The Girls Academy program does make cuts and follows a different process for Player ID. Visit the Girls Academy page for more details.
When you play for Salvo SC you can expect to pay your Player ID fee, your Club fee, your Team fee, and your uniform costs. Additional travel expenses will be incurred for teams that travel as a part of their prescription. By registering for Salvo SC, you are also agreeing to our Volunteer Policy, Refund Policy and our Soccer Parenting Education Policy.
Club fees are a fixed cost. Club fees cover league registration, fields for games, referees for games, coach/staff fees, and indoor training.
Team fees vary slightly for each team (depending on which tournaments/events are chosen), so they are an estimate. Team fees cover tournament/event registration and coach travel. Team fees DO NOT include player travel or uniform costs.
The Competitive Program refund policy can be found here.
We have a communication pathway located in PlayMetrics under Club Resources. Following this pathway is CRUCIAL to ensuring your questions are answered by the correct person and in a timely manner.
Salvo SC currently operates out of three primary Geos. Geo is another word for “hub” or “location”.
Central geo operates mainly out of Mendota Heights and West St. Paul, but also in Eagan.
East geo operates heavily in Woodbury, but also in Cottage Grove and St. Paul.
South geo uses facilities in Farmington, Rosemount, Lakeville, and Apple Valley.

Across our Travel and Elite programs, all players will play 50% or more of the season. This does mean that one player may play 25% in one game and 75% in another, but the average is expected to be at least 50%.
For our High Performance and Girls Academy programs, play time is earned.
Yes, these are coming soon!
Throughout the winter we offer Soccer School, and during the summer we offer Summer Camps. Both programs are designed for all players that want more.
Salvo staff analyze records from previous seasons, as well as roster make-up, to determine league placement. It is always an educated guess, as there are many moving pieces.
League placement cannot be changed mid-season. If a team is placed in a league that is not competitive, then they will likely be placed in a more appropriate league during the next season (if a higher or lower level is available).
Any game +/- 2 goals is considered competitive.
Yes. It is our expectation that our teams give back to their communities in some way throughout the season. Check with your player’s coach to see how you can help!
