What are teamwork, leadership, respect, and ownership?
How do these values make our experience in Salvo SC better?
How can we learn about and teach these values to others?
This spring, the boys and girls 07 East Academy Steel-Blue teams are participating in a pilot program focused on these questions about Salvo SC's core values. The teams meet once a week to learn about how the core values impact their experience as soccer players in the club and in other areas of their life. The project is focused on developing the core values within the groups by encouraging and supporting youth voice, engagement, and initiative. Players voluntarily attend sessions and participate in designing and leading the program curriculum. This provides opportunities for players to experience the core values first hand through developing their own programming, leading activities, working collectively on a project, and negotiating the rules and norms of a respectful space. Through this work, we hope to learn more about the player experience at Salvo SC and how to more effectively integrate the core values into our soccer curriculum. This program will continue through the summer, contributing to the holistic youth development experience within our Salvo SC community.
